The video for Baggio’s new single

Here’s the wonderful new single, ‘Soup‘, from Baggio!

Baggio will be opening The Wake on 27 July and we think they are going to be wonderful!

“When we released the 2005 Green Man film a couple of months ago, a chap called Ned dropped me a line. He was surprised to see himself in the film – he had attended the festival as a 9 year old boy. Ned was so blown away by all the live music he had seen, he started to learn to play guitar. Now he has a band, the South London alt-country collective Baggio, who we are delighted to have open our new event” says festival curator Jo Bartlett.

Here’s Ned aged 9 with his Dad and a family friend at the Green Man Festival (Jo and Danny who are organising The Wake are also the founders of the Green Man Festival in Wales) in 2005. We can’t wait to welcome Ned and his bandmates to The Wake in July.

Since beginning as the solo project of frontperson and songwriter Ben Wyborn, Baggio has evolved into a rotating cast of musicians, collaborators and friends, becoming one of South London‘s most beloved live acts in the process. Influenced as much by Silver Jews, Bill Callahan and Neil Young as they are by football, TfL and the acts with which they share their corner of the capital, the band’s sound has grown from twinkly Garageband compositions to fully formed alt-country goodness filled with lap steel guitar, violin, horns and harmonica. Their new album, The Dreadful Human Tangle, comes out May 10th on Double Dare (piglet, Shovel Dance Collective, The GN Band).
