Meet The Artists!

We are delighted to welcome Raining Blue.

Camille Christel explores new sounds through her new project Raining Blue. The music carries dreamlike compositions into a biographical audio diary that collages sampled sounds and words from blue days. These new creations were realised and recorded last summer back home in Tony ‘Doggen’ Foster (Spiritualized) studio in Nottingham. Live music is accompanied by guitarist ASA, enhancing the textural layers to create a genre blurring sound. An EP will be released in 2025 with the lead single ‘nothing in the morning’ coming soon.

Raining Blue will be playing the Woodland Stage.

What was the first record, cd or book that you bought?

Cat Power ‘The Greatest’. It’s continued to be my most listened to record, it’s an album that sounds like home. I must have been about 7 or 8, when it was first played to me. Like a big sister, I guess myself and the record have continued to grow closer over time.

Where did you buy it from?

I think it was from the old Fopp in Nottingham. I used to go there on the weekends when I was a child with my dad.

Is there a piece of music / artist you love which you feel not enough people know about?

Bettye Swann, her records have soundtracked most of my Sunday mornings over the past few years. I feel like the world started discovering her way too late, she’s one of the secret greats.

What was the first gig you went to?

The War On Drugs at Rock City when I was 11. Then the End of the road festival that same year.

What is the best gig or performance you’ve been to?

There have been too many to just say one, but my most recent favourite show was Oklou at Rough Trade East.

This show felt special, I’ve had Oklou in my headphones since Galore came out in 2020, her music accompanied a lot of moments over the past 5 years.

I’ve seen hundreds of shows in Rough Trade East and I’d never before felt like I was entering an artist’s world so much.

What are you listening to at the moment?

Jadu Heart – Post Heaven

BRONCHO – Natural Pleasure

Samia – Bloodless

Tobacco City – Horses

Dean Blunt/ Elias Rønnenfelt – Lucre

Jessica Pratt – Here in the Pitch

caroline – caroline 2

Oklou – Choke Enough

Are you reading a book at the moment, if so, what?

A couple of days ago I finished ‘Notes on Heartbreak’ by Annie Lord.

I’ve just started Rebel Girl by Kathleen Hanna.

Thanks Camille see you in August! X
