The Gymkhana

The Gymkhana play the Woodland Stage at 3pm.

Featuring Patch from The Sundays and Jason from Bennet.

The Gymkhana are a 4-piece pastoral lo-fi folk-indie collective who have accidentally made an album with likeminded chums (such as members of Slowdive, Gong , Midlake and Evil Blizzard) about the joys and dangers of living a life through the prism of nostalgia. Each song uses the narrative of 1970s children’s tv show Follyfoot as a starting point for off-kilter pop songs. Fuzzy with sepia-tinged melodies about lost childhood summers, field recordings of fetes and medieval parties, and near-prog and post-punk wig outs that threaten to implode like a faulting broadcast of Top of the Pops in 1973.

‘The Ballad of Dora and Ron’ is the only track they’ve released so far, and pretty special it is too – featuring Pete Coyle from the Lotus Eaters on vocals.
